Why Choose CLEAR Plus 8040-440

🔬

Biomimetic Aquaporin Channels

Unlike conventional polyamide membranes, Aquaporin Inside® CLEAR Plus uses protein-based water channels — aquaporins — embedded in a thin-film composite matrix. These biological channels selectively transport water molecules while rejecting dissolved salts, achieving equivalent or better rejection with measurably lower energy input.

Low-Pressure Operation

CLEAR Plus 8040-440 achieves its rated 440 GPD at just 100 psi (6.9 bar). Conventional 8040 brackish membranes typically require 150–225 psi. The result: smaller pumps, lower power bills, and less stress on your system over its lifetime.

NSF/ANSI/CAN 61 Certified

Certified for drinking water system components — municipal water treatment, food & beverage processing, pharmaceutical grade water, and any application where public health compliance is non-negotiable.

🌊

400 ft² Active Membrane Area

The 8040 format packs significantly more membrane surface area than 4040 elements, delivering higher permeate output per vessel — fewer elements, smaller system footprint, lower capital cost per gallon produced.

How Customers Use CLEAR Plus 8040-440

01

Municipal Drinking Water

The 8040-440 is purpose-built for municipal water treatment plants. Low-pressure operation means lower energy costs across multi-element trains, and NSF 61 certification keeps you compliant with drinking water regulations.

02

Industrial Process Water

Food & beverage, pharmaceutical, electronics manufacturing — any industry that needs consistent, high-quality process water will benefit from the CLEAR Plus 8040-440's stable rejection rate and low fouling tendency.

03

Wastewater Reuse

Tertiary treatment for industrial and municipal wastewater. The biomimetic membrane's fouling-resistant surface means longer cleaning intervals and lower chemical consumption compared to conventional membranes on challenging feed waters.

04

Large-Scale Commercial

Hotels, resorts, hospitals, data centre cooling — high-volume applications where 4040 elements would require too many vessels. A single 8040-440 replaces ~4× 4040 elements in permeate output.

How to Install Your CLEAR Plus 8040-440

The CLEAR Plus 8040-440 fits all standard 8" × 40" membrane housings. Dry element — no preservative solution to flush.

  1. 1
    Unpack
Remove the membrane from its sealed bag. Inspect the brine seal and O-rings for damage.
  2. 2
    Lubricate
Apply a small amount of glycerin-based lubricant to the brine seal and O-rings.
  3. 3
    Insert
Slide the element into the pressure vessel, brine seal toward the feed end. Push firmly until seated.
  4. 4
    Flush
Run the system at low pressure for 30 minutes to flush any residual manufacturing materials. Discard the initial permeate.
  5. 5
    Commission
Gradually increase pressure to operating level. Monitor permeate conductivity until stabilised.

CLEAR Plus 8040-440 + The Heart

RO permeate is demineralised and 'flat' — the membrane strips everything, including water's natural structure and dissolved gases. Install The Heart after your RO system to revitalise the permeate back into structured, living water.
